Project Description

Highland Enterprises played a key role in the installation of the “Free Spirits at Noisy Water” monumental sculpture by artist David McGary. This larger-than-life bronze installation, located at the Hubbard Museum of the American West in Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico, features eight horses in motion, an engineering marvel as they are balanced on just nine hooves. Our work included site preparation, concrete foundation pouring, constructing the walking paths, and managing the transportation and installation of the massive sculptures.

Each horse, weighing between 3,000 to 5,000 pounds, required careful handling. Throughout the project, we ensured the artwork remained hidden from public view until the official unveiling. The sculptures depict seven American horse breeds, making it one of the largest equine sculptures in the world, spanning 255 feet in length, with the tallest horse standing 36 feet high.
