Highland Enterprises Inc. was started in 1972 by Bud and Bobby Hettinga.
Both graduates of NMSU they decided to stay in New Mexico's sunny
climate. Building homes and commercial stick and brick buildings
quickly led them to offering metal buildings for an economical choice.
They built restaurants, churches, ag buildings and commercial buildings.
In 1979 Bud decided to bring tiltwall construction to the area.
Construction of warehouses and manufacturing plants and food processing
buildings soon became a trademark for Highland. In 1984 Highland
began its endeavor into dirtwork and asphalt paving which is still
a main portion of its business. 1990 brought utility infrastructure
into the family of construction services that is offered. Having
started off drawing house and office plans for customers then providing
them with the building service, it is certainly no surprise that
this service continues today in a much refined design/build approach
to commercial, industrial and subdivision construction.
